Chapter Five
“Oh my God, turn that freaking light off!” Julie was definitely feeling the wrath of the night before. “My head is pounding.”
“Well, we are checking out, so you need to get up. Here is some Tylenol and water.” I handed her the medicine and bottled water. “You have to get out of bed.”
“Maybe she would like a glass of champagne.” Brandon teased.
“Ew don’t say that word.” Julie sat up and looked like a model for a horror show. “I am never drinking again.”
“I have heard that from you before.”
Julie went to the bathroom and cleaned up, by the time she returned she looked like a vogue model again; her hair was tamed, he face clean, dark stylish sunglasses covered her eyes but only made her look more appealing.
“Are you still going to go to breakfast with me?” Brandon asked.
“Sure, if you want me to.” I picked up my purse to leave.
“Of course I want to.” Brandon pulled my lips to him and warmed my mouth with his. Everything about him was so strong yet gentle.
We took a limo and dropped off Julie at home before heading to breakfast. We invited her to eat but she looked at us like we had disgusted her. Maybe this hangover would convince Julie to slow down, I doubted it, but hoped there was a chance.
We didn’t go to a fancy restaurant for breakfast; instead we got fast food and went to my apartment. I desperately wanted to change out of my dirty black dress and into something more comfortable. I threw on some black yoga pants and a pink tank top. Of course Brandon looked more delicious than breakfast. He was just wearing jeans and a black t-shirt, but always looked like he had just stepped away from a photo-shoot or Hollywood set. He had that charisma and sex appeal about him, and it constantly lit my flame. It was hard to not jump and kiss him every time I saw his smile.
“I like your apartment.” He said as he wiped his mouth with a napkin.
“Really, there’s nothing special about it. It’s pretty simple and small.” I took a bite of my pancakes with my plastic fork.
“Exactly, it feels like a home. It doesn’t have furniture that looks like no one has ever sat in it or carpet that you are afraid to walk on. Don’t get me wrong, I love my houses, but they don’t feel like home.”
“Brandon, why don’t you just sell them then?”
“I don’t know. I guess I keep waiting for them to finally feel like home to me.”
I thought about that for a moment.
“Well maybe you need to make them feel like home.”
Brandon smirked and took a drink of his orange juice.
“I wish it were that easy.” He winked at me.
“It is. You need to simplify your life.” I pushed my plate aside. “If you want less, give less. I am not saying give up your fighting, I know you love it, but slow down. I was in the middle of the commotion last night and I see why you say you feel rushed all the time.
